Dr. Rob Vander Broek joined our team in 2015 and has been a dentist for ten years. He enjoys the shared sense of mission among our team members to improve patients’ health, comfort, and self-confidence. He chose dentistry as a career after taking mission trips to Honduras with his hometown pediatric dentist while he was in college.
Dr. Vander Broek graduated from the University of Michigan with Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees. He completed a one-year general practice residency at Carolinas Medical Center, as well as one-year research fellowships at both the National Institutes of Health and at the University of Michigan Medical School, resulting in multiple awards and co-authorship of several publications related to oral pathology. Additionally, Dr. Vander Broek received a certificate for completing a one-year dental implant externship through the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. He has completed over 1000 hours of continuing education credits since joining Northwest Dental Group, earning Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and Mastership in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
Currently, Dr. Vander Broek serves as President of the Southeastern District Dental Society of the Minnesota Dental Association. He also volunteers on the Executive Boards of the Zumbro Valley Dental Society, the University of Minnesota Extension Regional Sustainable Development Partnership, and the nonprofit CHAMPs in Haiti. He regularly volunteers clinical services locally and abroad. He has spent over 500 hours at the Rochester Salvation Army Good Samaritan Dental Clinic and is the two-time recipient of the American Dental Association's International Volunteer Service Award for work completed in Nepal, Haiti, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Vander Broek is certified in oral and inhaled sedation, local anesthetic, and CPR/AED/first aid. He has received training in OSHA and HIPAA compliance, implant dentistry, dental crowns, and Invisalign.
Dr. Vander Broek and his family enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, and volunteering.
