If you want a straighter smile but don’t like the idea of wearing unsightly metal braces, Rochester Invisalign is a great option for you! Unlike conventional braces with their metal brackets and wires, Invisalign orthodontics uses clear plastic trays called aligners to gently shift your teeth into place.Kerri S Talks about her invisalign experience Read Transcript
I first started off as a mystery patient. So I had filled out some paperwork and came in and she didn't know I was in. And then I critiqued that person who did it. And then I talked to Dr. Post about having a tooth corrected, and she said I was a candidate for the Invisalign. So I went through with that. And my son was getting married, so I wanted it done before the wedding.
The Invisalign process was easy except for all the pictures they have to take when you do the Invisalign process. But once I got into the Invisalign, it went quickly and was easy to wear. I didn't mind them except for, you know, your mouth get a little irritated and things like that. But it was worth every minute of it, you know, being able to ...
My kids always used to make fun of me because I wouldn't smile, and now I will smile. My Invisalign time commitment started ... was about nine months. We kind of did it quicker. I had a son getting married, so we wanted to have it done in time for the wedding. Start to finish was nine months.
My confidence change was huge. I'll actually smile now, and I will show my teeth and not be afraid to ... in pictures, I actually have a smile now.
There are many advantages to using Invisalign instead of metal braces to straighten your teeth:
- They are practically invisible. With no brackets or wires, it’s likely no one will even know you are wearing the clear plastic aligners!
- You can remove them. Because clear plastic aligners can be removed, it is easier to keep them clean. Also, if you or your teenager play sports, you can remove your aligners before athletic activities. No worries about damaging them if you get hit in the mouth!
- You can eat what you like. Want to enjoy a caramel apple, popcorn, or corn-on-the-cob? No problem with the Invisalign system! Remove your aligners first, and you can enjoy all of your favorite foods.
- You’ll make fewer visits to the dentist. Invisalign treatment usually requires fewer progress appointments than conventional braces do. Our dentist will likely need to see you only for a quick checkup every four to six weeks.

We do offer Invisalign in our practice now. All the providers in the practice are currently certified to do Invisalign, and it is a wonderful option. It's usually a little bit less expensive than conventional orthodontics, although it depends on the length of time the patient has to be in that. Each case is a little bit different, so there needs to be a consultation before any recommendations can be made.
To begin your treatment, our team will take digital X-rays and impressions of your teeth. We will then send them to a special lab where they will be used to create your custom clear plastic aligners.
You will wear an aligner set for one or two weeks, then change to a new set. The BPA-free plastic aligners are designed to gently move your teeth into place over time. You’ll check in with us every four to six weeks to make sure your treatment is progressing properly.
We Offer Invisalign for Teens, Too
Though our dentist won’t normally recommend clear plastic aligners for younger patients who don’t yet have all their permanent teeth, it is a good option for most teenagers and adults. In fact, our Invisalign Teen system includes features especially designed for younger users.Dr Post Talks about who is a candidate for Invisalign Read Transcript
So, who's a good candidate for Invisalign? Everybody. And honestly, it's the most amazing thing. It’s the easy, quick way. In like six weeks, you can totally transform how you look. And people judge you by how that smile looks and how clean it looks, and in a short amount of time, Invisalign can really correct that without having to wear braces. I've done really complicated cases with Invisalign. I've done really easy cases with Invisalign. A lot of it depends on the patient and how compliant they are with wearing their trays, but it's a fun thing to see the transformation.
For best results, these clear plastic aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. The aligners have indicators that fade over time to remind teens when to switch out their aligners – and to help parents and their dentist see if they are being worn for the recommended time. The Invisalign Teen program also provides several free aligners to replace lost ones.
