We Care About You
We understand that it can be scary to experience a dental emergency, especially if you don’t know what’s going on. When you first experience a problem, you may have pain in your mouth. It is important to help alleviate this pain so that you can focus and do what’s best for your oral health.
We recommend that you NEVER take aspirin when you are experiencing any type of tooth pain. You are welcome to take Tylenol to reduce the inflammation and pain. You can also use a cold pack on the area and swish warm saltwater in your mouth.
Common Emergencies We See
Well one of our taglines or slogans I guess you would say is “if you call us in the morning, we will see you that same day” that’s our guarantee. And the way we handle that is because we have so many providers, that again is another advantage of the group practice, is that we are able to have people seen the same day that they call and if they are in pain, we will see them but the actual procedure is they just call, we get them in, we do our best to get them out of pain, almost always we can do that. We may provide final treatment that same day, same day treatment which is what we also promote but the main thing is, I think that’s what helped us build our reputation is getting patients out of pain when they call.
- Knocked-out tooth
- Broken or fractured tooth
- Loose tooth
- Infection or abscess
- Deep wound in the mouth
- Broken crowns, dentures, or other restoration work
- Severe dental pain
What You Should Do
If you are experiencing an emergency, calm down and gain your composure. Call our office first to schedule your same-day appointment. There are different ways to handle emergencies, but it is recommended that you never touch the hurt or loose tooth as this can cause more damage and pain to the area.
If your tooth has been knocked out, recover it immediately and then place it back into your mouth or into a container with milk. If your tooth has been broken, find the pieces and place them in a secure container or sandwich bag. Bring them to our office, and we will do our best to restore your tooth.
If you think you may have a broken jaw, you need to head straight to the emergency room. You can place a towel or handkerchief around your head and tie your jaw shut to prevent any additional damage to the jaw.
