• Dr. Steve Sperling

I’m a Rochester native. I grew up here in town and went away to undergrad at St. Olaf College just up the street in Northfield and then University of Minnesota for dental school. Part of the reason I got into dentistry is I had some role models in my upbringing. I didn’t have any relatives or anything like that who were dentists but I had an excellent dentist myself growing up and then my orthodontist as well who were really encouraging and when I had an interest, they were very good about answering my questions.

Dr. Sperling, DDS, MAGD, FICOI, joined Northwest Dental Group in 1983, bringing together highly reputable dentists to provide superior dental care throughout the Rochester area. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. He then continued on to graduate from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He holds both a Fellowship and a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Dr. Sperling is dedicated to providing you with the best dental care in the local area and he truly cares about the appearance of your teeth. That is why he has taken thousands of hours of continuing education as well as participating in live in-office trainings. Recently, he was appointed by the Governor to the Minnesota Board of Dentistry and coauthored a bestselling book, “Change Agents,” with Brian Tracy.

When he is not at the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Shelley, and their two sons. He also enjoys playing tennis, scuba diving, growing apples, and skiing.

  • Dr. Katie Post

My father is a Veterinarian, my grandfather was a Veterinarian, my grandfather was actually the State of Iowa’s State Veterinarian so I grew up with my dad working 7 days a week, 24/7 and I love animals. I love spending time with them. I really like that his best friends were his clients and the animals and he can tell you the names of different dogs but maybe not the names of the owners which I think is great. He loved being able to influence different people who were his employees and different people in the community and kind of giving back to the community and that was a big part of it. Part of dentistry over medicine for me was I can do that. For me, ever since I was a little kid, I liked to sketch or draw or work with my hands. I would take lots of pottery classes and things like that so dentistry ended up being a gold mine for me. I can talk all day and nobody can talk back and I can work with my hands. You spend a lot of time when you do these full mouth rehabs. We have people come in and we will just redo their entire smile and a lot of it is shade or color, this angle or just a little turn here, a little thing there. My assistant Kelly will always tell the patient “take a look at this, okay now we are going to have Dr. Post come in and put her magic touch on it” and Kelly will say “I don’t understand how you see that” but once I smooth that off, then it just looks that much better. And I think from a small age that has been a part of me and I just kind of fell into it and it is a perfect fit.
