Dr. Shin came to our practice from California. She received her BS in biology from Andrews University, then graduated with honors from the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.
She and her family moved to Rochester years ago, and our patients benefit from her compassionate care. Dr. Shin’s heart is in helping people, whether it’s here in Rochester or in one of the countries she has visited to provide dental care during mission trips.
Dr. Shin is certified to administer inhaled sedation, local anesthetic, and CPR, AED, and first aid. She has additional training in Invisalign and OSHA and HIPAA compliance.
Dr. Shin’s professional accomplishments include:
- Fixed Prosthodontics Award from the LLUSD restorative department for commendable skill in fixed prosthodontics
- Academic Excellence Silver Award in recognition of outstanding performance in the National Board Dental Examination, Parts I and II
- Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society
The reason that Dr. Shin became a dentist is twofold. First, creating art with her hands in a college ceramics class brought her a great deal of joy. She knew that the tactile and artistic requirements of dentistry would give her the same fulfillment in a lifelong career.
Second, Dr. Shin saw how much relief and aid a dentist can bring while she was on an overseas mission trip in high school. She was inspired to pursue this profession that allowed her to make a difference in someone’s life one smile at a time.
Dr. Shin’s patients love her because she strives to deliver the same level of competence, honesty, and compassion that she seeks in her own medical and dental care. She hopes that her dedication is visible and that each patient she treats appreciates it. Her favorite part about her job is meeting people from all walks of life. Technically speaking, she loves doing cosmetic work on anterior (front) teeth.
Away from work, her days are filled spending quality time with her husband and three precious children, teaching her dog (Teddy) tricks, playing piano, and hiking.
Her favorite quote is by Helen Keller: “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.”
